The Salvation Army Wetaskiwin Team
Majors Melissa and Mike Mailman
Majors Mike and Melissa have faithfully served as Salvation Army officers since 2009. Their ministry has taken them across Canada—from Manitoba to Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and now to Wetaskiwin, Alberta, where they have served since 2021.
Both Mike and Melissa are deeply passionate about the communities in which they live and serve. Their desire is to see people living with purpose and love, reflecting the life and teachings of Jesus. Together, they strive to model Christ’s example by sharing His love with everyone they meet.
They are also proud parents of two wonderful daughters and are committed to teaching them—and others—what it means to live a life shaped by faith, service, and compassion.

Kathy
Kathy has been a proud member of the Wetaskiwin community for over 30 years. She joined The Salvation Army team in 2016, inspired by how her faith in God aligns with the organization’s mission to serve others. In her role as Administrative Assistant, Kathy’s commitment to helping people is evident in all she does. Often, she is the first friendly face or voice to greet those who connect with our office. Kathy approaches each interaction with care and compassion, whether someone is seeking assistance or exploring ways to support our work. We are deeply grateful for her dedication and the warmth she brings to our ministry.

Bruce and Irene Finkel
(Treasurer and Community Outreach)
Bruce and Irene Finkel have called Wetaskiwin home since 1979 and have faithfully served the community in many ways over the years. As devoted Salvation Army soldiers (members), both Bruce and Irene give generously of their time and talents through various volunteer roles.
Bruce is an integral part of our ministry leadership team, managing the budget in partnership with the officers. He also leads a discipleship program, facilitates a weekly Bible study, and conducts services at the local hospital. Irene oversees our Community Care Ministries, ensuring that residents in care homes feel remembered and valued—especially at Christmas, when she coordinates visits and organizes volunteers to deliver gifts to more than 785 residents.
Together, Bruce and Irene beautifully reflect God’s faithfulness through their ongoing commitment to serving Him and others in our community.
